Two ways to delete your account

You can delete your Pure Path account and its data either from inside the app or by sending us a request from this page. No sign-in and no app install is required to use the form below.

  • In the app (fastest): Settings > Delete Account. For most accounts your data is removed straight away — see the steps, and one limitation.
  • From this page (request): Fill in the form and our support team will delete the account after verifying that it is yours. Go to the form.
  • Only want to remove some data? You can delete individual data and keep your account. See how.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (fastest)

If you still have Pure Path installed and can open your account, this is the quickest route — no waiting on support.

  1. Open Pure Path and go to the Settings tab.
  2. Scroll down to the More section and tap Delete Account.
  3. Tap Delete Everything, then confirm with Delete Forever.

The same option is available under Settings > Privacy & Security > Delete Account.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your streak, journal, check-ins and community history cannot be restored afterwards, even with your Recovery Code.

One limitation we want you to know about. Our servers cannot yet finish this automatically for every account — accounts that have community posts or comments, an accountability partner, or a second device still signed in are affected, and the app does not warn you when it happens. If that applies to you, or if you simply want deletion confirmed in writing, send the request form below: we check every request by hand, complete the deletion ourselves, and email you when it is done. We are working on removing this limitation.

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, so cancel yours in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings before or after deleting.

Option 2 — Request deletion from the web

Use this form if you have uninstalled the app, changed device, or simply prefer to ask us. This form does not delete anything by itself: it creates a support request. Because anyone could type in someone else's details, we always confirm that the account belongs to you before deleting it.

We reply here to confirm your request and to verify the account is yours. It is used for this request only.
Pure Path accounts are anonymous, so anything helps: your anonymous community username, the Apple or Google account you signed in with, or the store you subscribed through. Never send your Recovery Code or PIN here — we will ask for verification over email once we reply.
If you chose "delete specific data only", tell us exactly what to remove (for example: journal entries, AI conversations, community posts).

Request received

Your request has reached our support team. We reply to the email you gave us within 2 business days, and complete verified deletion requests within 30 days.

We will first ask you to confirm that the account is yours — with your Recovery Code, or by signing in with the Apple or Google account it uses. Nothing is deleted before that.

If you do not hear from us, write to privacy@ppath.app.

You can also email privacy@ppath.app directly with the subject "Account deletion request".

How we verify it is your account

Pure Path accounts are anonymous by design — we do not hold your name, phone number or address, so we cannot identify you from a web form alone. An open form that deleted on request would let anyone erase another member's recovery journey.

So the request always goes to a person. We reply to your email and ask you to prove ownership in one of these ways:

  • Your Recovery Code (Settings > Account > Recovery Code in the app), or
  • Signing in with the Apple or Google account the Pure Path account uses, or
  • Confirming from inside the app, if you can still open it.

Only after that is the deletion carried out. We never confirm or deny whether an account exists for a given email or username to anyone who has not passed verification.

What is deleted

When your account is deleted — whether from the app or after a verified request — the following is permanently removed from our servers. If the app cannot complete an automatic deletion (see the limitation above), nothing is removed until we finish it for you.

  • Your account and profile: your anonymous user record, your anonymous community profile and username, your Recovery Code, and all active sign-in tokens.
  • Recovery tracking: streak and start date, daily check-ins and daily logs, mood check-ins, urges, relapse history, your recorded triggers and patterns, your reasons for change, and Ramadan goals and logs.
  • Journal entries: every private journal entry, including encrypted ones.
  • AI conversations: all Rafiq conversations and messages, the profile Rafiq builds about you, and the safety records that hold snippets of your own messages.
  • Community content: your posts and comments are stripped of their content, images and authorship; likes, duas, chat messages, community notifications, friends, friend requests and reports you filed are deleted outright.
  • Private messages: your direct messages, muted chats and block list.
  • Ask a Sheikh: every question, answer thread and directed message you sent or received.
  • Clans: your membership and clan messages; clans you created are removed with their members and messages.
  • Accountability partners: your ally links and invitations.
  • Images you uploaded: every image attached to your community posts is detached from the post, so it is no longer shown anywhere in Pure Path. The image file lives in a separate file store and is not erased automatically — see What is kept below.
  • Notifications: your notification preferences and your notification history. The push registration of the device you delete from is removed by the app as it deletes; a registration left behind by another device is removed when we complete the deletion for you.
  • Unfinished sign-up data: any partial onboarding draft that created the account.

Data held only on your phone (app lock PIN, disguise settings, cached content) is removed when you delete the app, and immediately if you use the Panic PIN described in the Privacy Policy.

What is kept, for how long, and why

A small amount of data outlives the account, either because the law requires it or because removing it would damage other people's conversations. These periods are the ones stated in our Privacy Policy.

What is kept How long Why
Empty placeholders where your community posts and comments were Indefinitely, with no content and no link to you Your text, images and authorship are erased, but the thread structure has to survive so other members' replies still make sense.
The image files you uploaded to community posts Not erased automatically. They stay in our file store — with the internal id of the account that uploaded them — until a person deletes them, which we do as part of handling a deletion request. If you deleted your account inside the app and want the files gone too, email privacy@ppath.app. Uploaded files are held separately from the database. Deleting the post removes the link immediately, so the image is no longer visible anywhere; clearing the stored file is a manual step for us.
Support conversations, including this deletion request: the email address you write from, what you write, and our replies Deleted together with your account when we carry out a verified deletion request. If you delete your account yourself inside the app, support conversations you had before that stay with us until you ask us to remove them. We need the request itself to check that the account is yours, to reply to you, and to show afterwards that the deletion was carried out.
Server logs (IP addresses) Automatically purged within 30 days Security and abuse prevention. These logs are never linked to user accounts.
Encrypted backups Up to 30 additional days before being permanently purged Disaster recovery. Backups are encrypted and are not used to restore a deleted account.
Subscription and purchase records Retained as required by Apple, Google, and applicable tax/financial regulations Financial, tax and accounting obligations. Payments are processed by Apple and Google, not by us.
Moderation records of reports made about your content Kept as long as needed to keep the community safe, without your account identifiers Community safety and child protection. Reports you filed about others are deleted with your account.

We aim to complete a verified deletion request within 30 days, and to respond to any privacy inquiry within 30 days.

Delete some of your data without deleting your account

You do not have to close your account to remove data. Each of the following can be deleted on its own, from inside the app, while everything else stays as it is. If you cannot open the app, ask for the same thing through the web form above by choosing "Delete specific data only".

AI conversations with Rafiq

Deletes every message, the conversation itself, and the profile Rafiq has built about you.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Audio Settings.
  3. Tap Clear Rafiq History and confirm.

Journal entries

Deletes a single journal entry permanently. Your streak, check-ins and community content are untouched.

  1. Open the Journal.
  2. Open the entry, or find it in the list.
  3. Tap the trash icon and confirm.

Community posts

Recent posts are removed outright. Older posts that already have replies are stripped of their content so the discussion below them still makes sense.

  1. Open Community and go to the Forum.
  2. Open your own post.
  3. Tap Delete and confirm.

Community comments

  1. Open the post that has your comment.
  2. Tap the menu on your own comment.
  3. Tap Delete and confirm.

Community chat messages

  1. Open the Community chat.
  2. Long-press your own message.
  3. Tap Delete.

Accountability partners (allies)

Removes the link between you and that person, and the check-ins that link carried.

  1. Open Community > Partner, or Content Blocker > Accountability Partners.
  2. Choose the partner.
  3. Tap Remove and confirm.

Push notification registration

Turning notifications off and deleting the stored registration are two different things, so here is how to do each.

  1. To stop receiving notifications: open Settings > Notifications in the app and turn them off, or turn them off for Pure Path in your phone's system settings. This stops delivery and cancels anything already scheduled, but the registration for your device stays on file.
  2. To delete the stored registration: log out of Pure Path on that device (Settings > Logout). The app deletes that device's push token from our servers as it logs out.
  3. If you have already uninstalled the app without logging out, the registration is still stored. Ask us to remove it with the form above.

Anything else

Support tickets, uploaded images and your mood, check-in and relapse history cannot be removed individually inside the app. Ask us through the form above and we will remove them after verifying the account is yours. Note that Settings > Reset Journey only resets your streak — it deliberately keeps your journal and community posts.
